I do love a good series! It saves me from having to decide which book to read next. I’m just now starting the third book in the Yada Yada Prayer Group series, and I highly recommend these books!
My friend Ann referred me to these books, and this is shaping up to be one of my favorite Christian fiction series of all times.
The books are written about a group of twelve women who are randomly assigned to a prayer group at a women’s conference. They are a diverse group of women who makes a decision to continue their prayer meetings after the conference is over.
My favorite thing about these books is that the characters are like real people. They have problems, some of them very big problems. Their problems are not always solved by the end of the book. Their relationships are real, too, and they work at being available to each and at trying to understand each other in spite of their differences.
The women in the books come from varied back rounds and attend different churches, yet they are bound together by their growing love for each other and their ever-strengthening faith in God who hears and answers the prayers of His people.
If you’re looking for that next good read in the Christian literature genre, look no further!
I thoroughly enjoyed these books and learned a lot from reading them. The characters are falable, lovable, learning to follow Jesus and learning to support one another through many phases of their complicated messy lives. There are a couple of spin off series as well: The House of Hope series, The Harry Bently Series, and then the SouledOut Sisters series. They should be read in that cronological order as the characters grow over time. Also, the Harry Bently series is written by Dave Jackson and takes place simultaneously as the House of Hope series, which makes it very interesting. I have never read a series that takes place at the same time as another series and includes certain scenes from another persons perspective. I liked it a lot. I am on the last one of the last series and am sad that it’s nearing the end. It will be hard to find another series that is as personable as these lovely books.
Thank you so much for recommending these books to me, Ann, and for lending me your paperback copies of the first series! I am happy to have a long list of books ahead of me in this series.
Yep, I have a whole post on my blog about about these books. I love them.
I’ll have to read your post, Jen! Thanks for stopping by!
I’ll have to check these out… I’m always looking for a good read!
I hope you like them!
Elaine, Have you read the Half Stitched Amish Quilting Club by Wanda Brunsetter? That was a good one.
I’ve never read that series, Chris. After reading some of Beverly Lewis’s Amish fiction, I got burned out on it. I’ll make a note of this series though and maybe give it a try. Thanks for sharing!
Elaine, it’s a single book. I know what you mean getting burned out on the Amish fiction. This book is entirely different from those books. I know you’d really like it!
I checked it out on Amazon, and it does look totally different from the usual Amish fiction. I will see if I can get it at our library. I’m sure I would like this one. Thanks for the recommendation.
