Wonder Clips, an Amazing Sewing Notion

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Just when I thought I had all the sewing notions I could ever want or need, I discovered Clover Wonder Clips, 50 Per Pack (affiliate link). Wonder Clips are small plastic clips that can be used instead of straight pins to hold fabric together for sewing.  At first, I used these little wonders only occasionally, but now I use them every day.  In the photo above, I used wonder clips to hold together the edges of a wristlet strap. The Wonder Clips are flat on one side--the side that … [Read more...]

Wine Bottle Bags

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If you've ever given a bottle of wine as a gift, you may have wished for a way to wrap that bottle of wine.  These bottle bags are the perfect addition to a gift of wine.  These bags can also be used to hold other bottled gifts like flavored oils and juices. This grapevine fabric is so beautiful with its jewel tones on a creamy background.  These coasters are a perfect companion to the bottle bags.   I made these bags to display at a recent event and priced them at $8 … [Read more...]

These coaster sets are simple gifts that are so practical that anyone would appreciate them!  I enjoy making these coasters and using them, too!  We have a set of gold tone coasters that we use in our living room, and we love them. I love novelty fabrics , but sometimes I just don't know what to do with them.  Coasters are a perfect choice for using novelty fabrics.  These baseball print coasters would a great gift for a sports enthusiast. Travel Tissue Cover

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This Travel Tissue Cover is a fun little project that is great for using up those odds and ends of fabric that accumulate in all sewing rooms.   I have seen several tutorials for these online, each one a bit different.  I made a few adaptations to those tutorials, and really enjoyed making a few of these recently.   I've been carrying one of these in my purse ever since I first tried my hand at this project.   I love being able to find my tissues in my purse and … [Read more...]

Wristlet with Boxed Corners

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I've already featured my favorite wristlet pattern on my blog, and this wristlet with boxed corners is a variation of that same pattern by Erin Erickson- Dog Under My Desk.  These boxed corner wristlets are a little larger than the Essential Wristlet, and they are roomier thanks to the square bottom. Recently, I set up a vendor's table at an event, and these boxed corner wristlets were one of my most popular items.   These wristlets are fully lined, and I used a professional … [Read more...]

Tea Wallet

Do you or someone you know carry tea bags and packets of sweetener in her purse?  My sister does, and she used to carry her tea bags in a plastic baggie until I learned how to make tea wallets. These tea wallets close with an elastic loop and button closure.   These little wonders have four pockets to hold tea bags, sweetener packets, or business cards.   A tea wallet makes a cute gift and sells for $6 each. … [Read more...]

Card Wallet

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

These 4" wallets are one of my favorite handmade items to make and use.  My wallets are a slight variation on a pattern from Palm Harbor Patterns.  I always make one of these to match my purse, and I use it for carrying a few necessary cards and my cash. When getting items ready to sell at a craft event, I decided to make a few of these using this coffee print, in addition to the floral ones, and I like the way these turned out.  These would be a perfect gift for a coffee … [Read more...]

Vendor Opportunity in April

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A recent call landed me an opportunity to set up a vendor's table at a local Relay for Life event next month. I've been working hard lately to build up some inventory to sell at this event.  In the next few weeks, I'll be showing off some of the items I've made here on my blog. If you've got any great suggestions for other things to add to my table, please leave a comment.   … [Read more...]

Using Pre-Quilted Fabric for a Purse

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Pre-quilted fabric has pros and cons, but it can be a beautiful option for a handmade purse.  Recently I had a customer who bought a length of pre-quilted fabric that she loved, and she wanted me to construct a purse for her.  I accepted the mission, and this is the result. This zippered top pattern is my all time favorite pattern for pre-quilted fabrics.  I made this one using the large size, and it is perfect for a woman who likes a large purse. Because this is a larger purse, … [Read more...]

Padded Pouch for Cell Phone

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

After ruining my previous cell phone by dropping it repeatedly on our hard floor, I decided to make a padded pouch to protect my new cell phone. I checked out some cell phone pouches online to get a general idea what they look like since I'd never made one or owned one before.  I came up with the design that you see above.  It's a small rectangular pouch with a flap that will prevent the phone from falling out, but will also allow room for a cord to be plugged into the phone. I added … [Read more...]
